Definition
What is Descrybe Platform?
Descrybe Platform is the full Descrybe web workspace for legal research, analysis, brief review, direct source search, saved work, and exports. It is the place to use Descrybe directly, outside of Claude, when you want a structured research environment with legal sources close at hand.
The Platform includes DescrybeLM Research, Descrybe Review, focused search tools, citation lookup, source-law search, Legal Issue Explorer, history, saved work, and direct source review. A Full Platform plan also includes Descrybe Legal Engine access inside Claude.
What the Platform includes
DescrybeLM Research
A guided research workspace that helps move from a legal question to a structured answer, with research paths, authority checks, and source-backed analysis.
Descrybe Review
A brief and document review workflow for checking citations, quoted language, source support, and authority use before relying on legal work product.
Legal Research Toolkit
Direct tools for concept search, keyword search, case-name search, citation lookup, laws and rules search, and legal issue exploration.
Saved work and exports
Workspace features for keeping track of research sessions, reopening prior work, reviewing source trails, and exporting useful results.
Legal Engine access included
Full Platform access includes Descrybe Legal Engine, so Platform subscribers can also work inside Claude with Descrybe legal research tools.
When to use Descrybe Platform
You want a complete research workspace
Use the Platform when you want guided research, direct search, source review, saved sessions, and exports in one place.
You are reviewing a brief or legal document
Use Descrybe Review when you want a more structured citation, quote, and source-support workflow than a chat conversation can provide.
You want direct control over search
Use the search tools when you want to run concept searches, keyword searches, citation lookups, laws-and-rules searches, or issue exploration yourself.
You need to inspect source text closely
Use the Platform when the source trail matters and you want to open, compare, save, and return to legal sources directly.
Platform and Legal Engine
Descrybe Platform and Descrybe Legal Engine use the same Descrybe legal research foundation, but they fit different working styles.
Use Descrybe Platform when
you want to work directly in Descrybe with the full research workspace, brief review, direct source search, saved work, and exports.
Use Descrybe Legal Engine when
you want to work inside Claude while Claude calls Descrybe tools for source-law search, citation lookup, quote verification, treatment checks, and source text.
Use both when
you want Claude for conversational research and the Platform for deeper review, saved sessions, direct source inspection, and final source-checking workflows.
Full Platform includes Legal Engine
If you subscribe to the Full Platform plan, you do not need a separate Legal Engine subscription. Legal Engine access is included whether or not you choose to use Claude on a given day.
Why the Platform keeps sources visible
Legal research needs to hold up after the first answer. The Platform is built to keep citations, quotes, treatment, source passages, and source documents close to the analysis so users can inspect the legal material behind a result.
Descrybe can help find, organize, summarize, and check legal sources, but it does not replace legal judgment. Important authorities should still be read and evaluated before you rely on them in a filing, memo, client communication, or strategy decision.
