What is the Descrybe Legal Engine Connector?

Descrybe Connect is the connector layer for the Descrybe Legal Engine. Claude stays the chat interface. Descrybe handles legal research requests through the Model Context Protocol, also called MCP, and returns research material for Claude to use.

Set up the Descrybe Legal Engine in Claude

The fastest path is the Descrybe Legal Engine listing in Claude Marketplace. If you start from Claude's connector directory instead, search for Descrybe and choose the official listing. You do not need to paste in a custom server URL.

    Open the Descrybe Legal Engine listing in Claude Marketplace.

    Sign in to Descrybe if Claude asks. If you are already signed in with an authorized Descrybe account, Claude should recognize it.

  • Descrybe is designed to return focused research data first, rather than returning entire opinions by default, which helps preserve Claude's context and usage window for the rest of your work.
  • Descrybe returns legal research material for Claude to use. You should still review the underlying authorities before relying on an answer.

Tool permissions

  • Most Descrybe tools are read-only retrieval or analysis tools.
  • The source PDF tool may be labeled differently by Claude because generating or displaying a PDF can technically count as creating a file.

Troubleshooting

You cannot find Descrybe in Claude

Use the Descrybe Legal Engine listing in Claude Marketplace if you have the direct link. Otherwise, look in Claude's connector directory and search for Descrybe.

Claude says the connector cannot be reached

Remove the Descrybe connector from Claude, then add it again from the Descrybe Legal Engine listing or Claude's connector directory.

You are sent to checkout

Your Descrybe account does not have active Legal Engine or Platform access yet. Choose a plan, then return to Claude.

You signed in with the wrong Descrybe account

Sign out of Descrybe, then restart connector setup from Claude and sign in with the correct account.

The connector is connected but not helping in chat

Try telling Claude to use Descrybe. For example: "Use Descrybe to answer this." If Claude still does not use it, check that Descrybe is available for the current chat.

The authorization window says the session expired

Restart the connector setup from Claude. For security, the browser authorization step only stays open for a limited time.

Does Descrybe Legal Engine include Claude access?

No. Descrybe Legal Engine works with your existing Claude account. Claude access is separate.

Can more than one person use the same connector?

Each person should connect Descrybe from Claude and sign in with their own Descrybe account. Descrybe Legal Engine or Platform access is required for each user.

Do I need to enter a server URL?

No. Use the Descrybe Legal Engine listing in Claude Marketplace or install Descrybe from Claude's connector directory. Claude handles the connection details for you.

What does Descrybe receive from Claude?

Descrybe receives the tool requests Claude sends to the connector, does the requested legal research work, and returns results to Claude.

Is this legal advice?

Can I cancel?
