Print or Save a Case PDF

Create a printable opinion PDF from Descrybe Platform or an AI assistant

This tutorial shows the main ways to create a PDF for a case: from Descrybe Platform, from a Descrybe case viewer link in an AI assistant, or directly through Descrybe Legal Engine.

Overview

There are a few ways to create a printable case PDF. You can do it from Descrybe Platform, from a Descrybe case viewer link returned by an AI assistant, or by asking Descrybe Legal Engine to generate the PDF directly in the assistant.

Generate, Open, or direct PDF link

If Descrybe has not created the PDF yet, you may see Generate or Generate PDF. If the PDF already exists, you may see Open or receive a direct PDF link. Either way, the result is a printable opinion PDF.

From Descrybe Platform

  1. 1

    Find and open the case

In Descrybe Platform, use Concept Search, Case Name Search, Citation Lookup, or another search tool to find the case. Click the case name to open the case details page.

Search for the case, then click the case name to open the details page.
  2. 2

    Use Printable PDF

On the case details page, look near the case information for Printable PDF. Click Generate if the PDF has not been created yet. Click Open if the PDF is already available.

Use the Printable PDF link. Generate creates the PDF; Open appears when the PDF is already ready.
  3. 3

    Print or save the PDF

After the PDF opens, use your browser or PDF viewer controls to print it or save a copy.

From Claude or another AI assistant

Claude is shown here, but the same general workflow applies in other supported AI assistants. Ask the assistant to use Descrybe Legal Engine to find or look up the case. If Descrybe case links are not shown automatically, ask the assistant to include Descrybe links for the cases you need.

  1. 1

    Click View case

When the assistant returns a Descrybe case result, click View case to open the case viewer.

Ask for Descrybe case links if they are not shown automatically, then click View case.
  2. 2

Generate the PDF from the viewer

In the case viewer, click Generate PDF. If the PDF has already been generated, the viewer may open or reuse the existing PDF instead.

The case viewer includes a Generate PDF button near the top of the page.
  3. 3

    Print or save

Once the PDF opens, use your browser or PDF viewer controls to print or save it.

Ask Legal Engine to generate the PDF

You can also ask Descrybe Legal Engine to create the PDF directly from the assistant conversation. This is useful when the assistant has already found the right case and you want the PDF without opening the case viewer first.

Example prompt

Please use Descrybe to generate a PDF for case #1.

If the assistant returned several cases, identify the case by number, citation, case name, or court and date so it generates the right PDF.

  1. 1

    Ask for the PDF

Use a clear prompt that identifies the case you want. The assistant can ask Descrybe Legal Engine to generate or retrieve the case PDF.

The assistant can call Descrybe Legal Engine and return a direct PDF link.
  2. 2

    Open the returned link

When the assistant returns the PDF link, open it and use your browser or PDF viewer controls to print or save the file.
