Connect Descrybe to Claude Code
Use Descrybe Legal Engine from the Claude Code MCP menu
Claude Code can use Descrybe after the Descrybe connector has been authorized from Claude.ai. If you created a Descrybe subscription first, the next step is to connect Descrybe from the Claude connector listing, then open Claude Code and check the MCP menu.
Overview
How Claude Code connects to Descrybe
Claude Code is for focused legal research
Claude Code can make legal research workflows faster, but Descrybe should be used as a research assistant for your own work, not as a data collection pipeline.
The Descrybe Terms of Service apply when you use Descrybe through Claude Code. Bulk extraction, shared credentials, resale, republishing, persistent caching or mirroring of Descrybe content, model training, or building a competing legal research service from Descrybe content or outputs is not permitted.
Account activity that indicates prohibited use may lead to limits, suspension, or termination of access.
- Use Descrybe through Claude Code for focused research, citation lookup, quote verification, and source review.
- Connect with your own Claude.ai account and your own Descrybe account.
- Do not use Claude Code to automate bulk extraction or collect Descrybe content at scale.
Claude Code can use Descrybe through the same Descrybe Legal Engine connector you authorize in Claude.ai. The important step is starting from the Descrybe connector listing in Claude, so Claude can connect your Claude.ai account to your Descrybe account.
Creating a Descrybe subscription gives your Descrybe account access, but it does not by itself add Descrybe inside Claude Code. Claude still needs the connector authorization step, and Claude Code needs to be using the same Claude.ai account.
Setup
Set up Descrybe for Claude Code
Use this path when Claude Code is signed in with the same Claude.ai account you use in the browser. Claude Code can also be configured with an API key, an auth token, Bedrock, Vertex, or company-managed authentication; those setups do not automatically load connectors from Claude.ai.
Open the Descrybe connector listing in Claude
- 1
Connect Descrybe from Claude.ai
Open the Descrybe connector listing, click Connect, sign in to Descrybe if prompted, and allow the Descrybe tools you want Claude to use.
- 2
Open Claude Code
Open Claude Code after the connector is authorized in Claude.ai.
- 3
Run /mcp
In Claude Code, run /mcp. Descrybe should appear there if Claude Code is using the same Claude.ai account and the connector authorization completed successfully.
- 4
Start working
Once Descrybe appears in the MCP list, you can ask Claude Code to use Descrybe for focused legal research tasks, citation lookup, authority checks, quote verification, and source review.
If Descrybe does not appear in Claude Code
Check the Claude account
Make sure Claude Code is signed in with the same Claude.ai account that connected Descrybe from the Claude connector listing.
Run /status
In Claude Code, run /status and look at the active account and authentication method it shows.
Check for API key or company-managed authentication
If Claude Code is using an API key, auth token, Bedrock, Vertex, or a company-managed setup, connectors added in Claude.ai will not appear automatically. Switch Claude Code to the same Claude.ai account with /login, or follow the MCP setup path your organization uses.
Contact support
If Descrybe still does not appear, contact Descrybe support and include what /status shows for your login or authentication method. Please do not send API keys, tokens, or secrets.
